I was genuinely touched that an artist known around the world would go to the trouble of leaving me a note saying that he was sorry that he’d missed me at the studio, but he had to go sing to a crowd of who knows how many people at Newport, but would be right back after to make time for a portrait. Nearly all of her drawings have are done while riding on a New York Ferry. I think I’ve lost track of how many drawings she done. It has to be close to 80!
