Arsonists Lullaby by Korey Brown @Koreyb_asic

I am simply delighted that Mom saved it!
So I realized that I still haven't uploaded a picture of this individual piece after someone asked me what the one in the center of my exhibit picture was yesterday. That's mostly because I personally don't like it. It was in the garbage and my mom pulled it out. In my opinion, it looks like a troll doll. Nonetheless, others seem to enjoy it, so I guess I'll post it. It's called "Arsonist's Lullaby" based off the song by Hozier. Essentially, I was attempting to capture the idea that people can have addictions or secrets about them that slowly eat them away and are often nothing like the person appears (hence the vast difference in the green face and the flames). I wanted it to be really strong and bold lines and colors, but it came out faded and soft. As someone pointed out to me, it almost portrays my theme better, though. For one, it's soft like a lullaby like the title indicates and the softness adds to the idea that addictions are often very subtle and hidden. Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I just really loved the idea behind this piece and (although I was disappointed with the outcome) I wanted to give the explanation it deserved. Hozier  Wins  Ivor Novella Awards in Britain…for “Best Song Musically & Lyrically”

The Ivor Novello Awards are presented by BASCA in association with PRS for Music. They celebrate, honour and reward excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing.
The Ivors are owned and governed by BASCA, which is a not-for-profit membership organisation representing British songwriters and composers. The awards fullfil one of BASCA’s key aims to celebrate excellence and promote songwriting and composing. The awards are governed by The Ivors Committee, which itself is a sub committee of the BASCA board.
In addition to The Ivors Committee each nominated award category is judged by separate juries, which are entirely populated by songwriters and composers. As such The Ivors truly represent peer recognition.
Acknowledged as one of the most prestigous awards for music creators, The Ivors recognise the writers of individual works released in the UK during the award year and the contribution songwriters and composers have made to British music.
2015 is our 60th Anniversary.
The Ivors remain the only award ceremony in the musical calendar that is not influenced by publishers and record companies. The Award itself is a solid bronze sculpture of Euterpe, the muse of lyric and Poetry.

During his acceptance speech #Hozier dedicated his award to him mother Raine Hozier-Byrne who is hospitalized.  This site is sending Raine all it’s healing thoughts and prayers.
